  • 1.Fernhill Picnics
  • When is the event on and what time does it start?

    The Fernhill Picnic Race Day is on Saturday 18 October 2014. Gates open at 10.00am with the first picnic race at approximately 1.00pm. Kids’ activities will be available from 11am – 4pm. Registration for Fashions on the Field competition is between 10am – 12pm. Post race concert commences at approximately 5.30pm, with the event closing at 9.00pm. Please note times may be subject to change.

  • Where Is Fernhill Estate?

    Fernhill Estate is located in Western Sydney at 1041 Mulgoa Road, Mulgoa. Travel time from Penrith is about 15 minutes to the northeast and from Sydney CBD is about 50 minutes to the west. Special Event traffic management plans will be in place. Please see the Getting Here page for more information.

  • How do I buy tickets?

    Tickets can be purchased online via our Buy Tickets tab. General admission and a variety of hospitality options are available for purchase. Tickets start from $30.00, children under 14 years are free.

  • Will Parking Be Available?

    Yes, onsite parking will be available at a cost of $20.00 per vehicle. Parking is also available at Penrith Paceway for $5.00 per vehicle, with free shuttle buses to the venue. Please see the Getting Here page for the full list of transport Options.

  • What Public Transport Is Available?

    Free Return Shuttle Bus Services – Free return shuttle bus services will operate from Penrith Station (stands 17&18), Penrith Paceway and Wallacia Primary School. Shuttle will run every 20 minutes between 9.45am – 1.00pm, every hour between 1.00pm – 5.00pm, then every 20 minutes between 5.00pm – 8.20pm.
     
    Park & Ride – Parking at Penrith Paceway and Wallacia Primary School is $5 per vehicle and there is a free shuttle service to and from Fernhill Estate. Penrith Paceway is located at 141-147 Station Street, Penrith. Wallacia Primary School is located at 1573 Mulgoa Road, Wallacia. (N.B Both venues gates will be locked at 8.45pm).
     
    In addition, a temporary taxi rank will be located on the premises.

  • What can I bring in with me?

    Picnic blankets, foldable / camping chairs, beach & market umbrellas, marquees and pop-up shade tents are permitted. Eskys or portable cooking apparatus are not permitted. This is a fully licensed and catered event with a wide variety of food and beverage available for purchase. No alcohol is permitted to be bought onsite. Please see our Terms for a list of all permitted and prohibited items. Patrons are asked to take their rubbish with them upon departure.

  • Is EFTPOS available?

    Whilst EFTPOS / ATM facilities will be available, we recommend bringing enough cash with you on the day.

  • What is the racing schedule for the day?

    There will be a 6-race program on the day. The first picnic race will be at approximately 1.00pm, and the last race at 5.10pm. Full betting facilities are available.   • What are owners with runners on the day entitled to?

    All registered owners with horse/s running on the day are entitled to four (4) general admission tickets to the race day. Photo identification must be produced at the ticket booth to redeem tickets.

  • Do media require accreditation to attend?

    All relevant working media will require accreditation to attend the event. Please see our Contact page for more information.
